Inspired by Dragon in Clouds (Unryu), the Japanese ukiyo-e masterpiece by renowned artist Utagawa Hiroshige, the Sailor ENRYU captures the commanding presence of a mythical dragon emerging through swirling clouds and flames.
The cap and barrel are crafted from ebonite using Sailor’s traditional Chirashi (scattering) technique. Against a matte black base, scattered white and grey evoke billowing clouds and drifting mist, while vivid red accents suggest the flames surrounding the powerful dragon. Together, these colours create a striking interplay of depth, movement and contrast, bringing Hiroshige’s dramatic vision to life.
At its heart lies Sailor’s signature 21K gold bi-colour Naginata Togi nib, renowned for its distinctive line variation. Its specialised design allows the width of the stroke to vary with the writing angle, offering a more expressive and versatile writing experience.
