Ukiyo-e, or images of the floating world, is a form of Japanese art printing established in the Edo-period featuring scenes of nature and people’s lives. Hokusai features colors inspired by landscape paintings including Mount Fuji, while Sharaku features colors inspired by ukiyo-e depicting exaggerated facial caricatures of kabuki actors.
