Raden is a traditional Japanese decorative craft mainly used for lacquer ware and woodwork. Working with small pieces of precious shell material, the master artist creates a unique and distinctive striped fountain pen which is impressive and a piece of art. Each individually produced pen is crafted by hand and truly unique.

Pelikan is pleased and proud to offer this new Limited Edition M1000 Raden White Ray as the beautiful successor of M1000 Raden Green Ray. Also, with this edition, the new Raden White Ray combines the wonderful Japanese decorative craftsmanship with fountain pen models of Pelikan’s famous Souverän® series which makes these pens a symbiosis of two cultures.

The first step to create the M1000 Raden White Ray fountain pen is to use the special Japanese Urushi lacquer to give the surface of the pen a deep black impression. Then the traditional stripes are made with particles from white mother of pearl material. In the next step the stripes are fixed to the cap and barrel by a coating of lacquer. Finally, the artist individually signs and numbers each fountain pen with Maki-e technique.

The Raden M1000 White Ray fountain pens are pieces of delicate art with finely-chased 18kt gold nibs in the size medium, all accentuated with a rhodium décor. Each fountain pen is presented in a traditional Japanese gift box which is made of Paulownia wood.

The Limited Edition Raden M1000 White Ray is limited to an edition of 400 pieces worldwide. Each pen is individually numbered and signed by the Maki-e artist.

The smooth operating piston mechanism allows you to fill this pen with bottled ink. An ink window allows you to see your ink level.
